A public utility was required by law to keep a record of trees and brush cleared away from power lines to prevent fires.
Each year, power lines are brought down by tree limbs during storms. In addition to causing a loss of power for communities, some of these downed power lines have caused grass fires.
Avidaid was contracted as a third party to design and develop a database and application to track the known location of trees along power lines and record the maintenance of trimming those trees to prevent downed lines.
A Sybase relational database structure was designed and developed along with a computer application in a client/server environment. As with all Avidaid projects, a comprehensive and easy to read user manual was provided along with training for key personnel.
